This will be Coach Heather's 7th year coaching for the Shenandoah Surge and 3rd year as Club Director
Heather Niedermeier of Chesapeake, VA is a former Jr. National Team Player in Chesapeake, VA and Shepherd University Player on Full Scholarship ('98-'01). Heather was ranked in the TOP 25 D2 players in the country & 1st Team All conference multi-year winner, while at Shepherd.
After Shepherd, Heather coached successful middle school teams in her hometown of Chesapeake, VA. She is currently in her 2nd year at St. Maria Goretti High School as the varsity head coach. Heather coached her Surge 15u team to Nationals in Orlando, FL in 2021. She continues to offer private lessons to young volleyball enthusiasts like herself!

Andrea Stewart,
Head Coach
Coach Andrea started her volleyball journey in Virginia. She was a starter on the 1994 Virginia State Championship team and the 1995 Virginia State Runner-ups.
She was recruited and played for Division 1 Elon University in the middle / right side positions. After graduating she took a head coaching position at Southern-Alamance High School. Her team achieved a state playoff season. After several seasons she moved to Tennessee to coach volleyball at Cookeville High School. Several years ago she was the head coach for Washington High School for several seasons.

This will be Coach Jerry's 4th year with Shenandoah Surge.
-Presently Assistant Coach for Special Olympics volleyball (Area 13 - VA) for 3 years
-Currently plays in adult volleyball tournaments, leagues, and local rec pick-up games for the past 10 years.

This will be Coach Keith's 6th year coaching for the Shenandoah Surge.
Coach Keith is a true student of the game! He has coached volleyball at all levels. Rec. volleyball for
several years, middle school, high school and club volleyball.
Keith's wide range of knowledge, calm demeanor and never-ending positive attitude is why all his parents and players love him. You won't find a more patient and invested coach in the development of young players.

Chera Alibrandi,

This is Chera’s second year coaching for Shenandoah Surge. Coach Chera has been coaching for 11 years.
She coached at Charles Town Middle School for 9 years and led the team to win the only 4 MAC championships in volleyball since 2009. Chera coached the 15U and 16U teams for Potomac Elite and the 12U 7 13u team for Shenandoah Surge. Chera loves working with the younger players and watching them grow a love for the sport.

This is Coach Paola's 3rd year coaching at SURGE. She has been playing volleyball since she was 6 years old. She played all around the island in Puerto Rico. Then I moved to Winchester, VA when I was 13 years old, started playing volleyball in Daniel Morgan Middle School. She played as a libero and defensive specialist in high school She still plays in adult leagues.

Coach Nina is from Puerto Rico. She started playing volleyball when she was 13. She was MVP for in school her freshman year.
She took a hiatus from volleyball due to injury but reconnected when I started playing for the adult league two years ago.
This will be her 2nd year coaching competitive travel and she couldn't be more excited

Robin Papa,
Head Coach
Coach Robin has coached volleyball at the recreational, middle school and high school levels.
Robin played volleyball at Shippensburg University where she studied mathematics and economics. She has been a math teacher for 24 years. in addition to volleyball, she has coached track and field and softball.
Coach Robin has coached at Clear Spring Middle School and Clear Spring High School.

Coach Hose is a long time native of Hagerstown Maryland and has been head and assistant coach within Washington County for over 14 years. She has coached on the recreational, middle school and club volleyball levels. She has experience coaching in many different age levels. She has played school volleyball, softball and ran cross country in High School.
Coach Hose became the assistant coach for WACO 16u. She has experience with coaching Beach and Indoor volleyball. In 2019, she then rejoined WACO and started as a head coach for the 12U team. Because of her strong work ethic and managerial skills,
Kelly Hose,
Assistant Coach

Coach Stacie will be entering her 2nd season as a head coach for Surge! A soccer player in high school, Stacie has years of experience working with youth. She has lead her local Girls Scout troop and coaching volleyball and soccer. She has coached various programs in addition to Surge, including WaCo Park and Rec, and most recently E Russel Hicks Middle School. Stacie also serves as coordinator for the Lady Junior Rebels Vball program. She also assists with clinics/camps and looks forward to another great year!

Will Hill comes to Surge, as a former athlete himself! He is in his 2nd year of coaching JV at St. Maria Goretti High School. He has 10 years of experience coaching and assisting volleyball. His extensive background of sports conditioning and training, will be an asset, to the Shenandoah Surge Family!
Devan has played at the collegiate level (Potomac State) as a libero! She continues to play to this day. Devan will be entering her 2nd year as coach for Surge, after taking a small break to finish her degree in elementary education!
Devan has participated in many camps and clinics with Surge and will continue to be an asset for Surge and every player she encounters!

Coach Matt brings years of experience to the team, he has worked with youth for 5 years at the YMCA, 3 years for the Washington Co Parks and Rec and most recently completing his second year coaching at Northern Middle School. He is excited to join Surge and can't wait to get started on this year's club season.

Karlee is having played volleyball for over 12 year including high school and! She attended Penn St - Mont Alto, where she played Libero. She has finished her nursing degree and is thrilled to join SURGE MD!

Jayson Higginbotham is a HUGE Sports Enthusiast! Jay has played and coached volleyball for over20 years in the US and Europe! his coaching and training experience spans high school, college, club and includes many disciplines. Jay is passionate about instilling esprit de corps while developing a team with a synergy much greater than the sum of its players!
As a former Shepherd Volleyball player, Tara bring a wealth of knowledge to our club! Tara has coached Wildwood Middle to 2 years of county and MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! We cant wait to see what she will do next....

Bryan is entering his 2nd year coaching with Surge, but has coached for the previous WACO VBC. He continues to share his love of volleyball and has years of experience coaching on and off the court!
Laura Wilt,
Tournament Director
Laura joins the Surge team after assisting WACO for the last two years. She has successfully managed multiple home tournaments for both USAV/CHRVA and for AAU. She is looking forward to a great 2022 season with Surge kicking off its second year hosting home tournaments.
