Aileen Carrero, Head Coach
13U WV
My name is Aileen Carrero, and I was born in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. From a young age, I discovered my love for volleyball, starting to play when I was just 10 years old. The sport quickly became a significant part of my life, shaping my character and guiding my future ambitions.
I pursued my passion academically and athletically, earning a scholarship to the University of Puerto Rico, where I completed my bachelor’s degree. Through my experiences on the volleyball team, I honed my skills as both a middle and outside hitter, contributing to the team's success while building lifelong friendships.
My educational journey didn't stop there; I obtained a Master’s degree in Education, merging my love for learning with my passion for volleyball. Upon graduating, I couldn't wait to pass on my knowledge and skills to the next generation. I began coaching at the elementary level, focusing on player development. This role lit a fire within me—coaching became not just a job but a calling.
Over the past 13 years, I have gained invaluable experience coaching at various levels in three different states. My commitment to nurturing young talent has only deepened, enriched by the time I took off to raise my two wonderful boys. Being a mother has taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of community—all of which I integrate into my coaching philosophy.
As I look toward the future, I am excited about the opportunity to continue developing players and making a positive impact within our community. My journey has been shaped by my experiences as a player, a coach, and a mother, and I am eager to share that passion and commitment with others. Through volleyball, I aim not only to teach the sport but also to foster a sense of belonging and teamwork among aspiring athletes, ensuring that they not only grow as players but as individuals ready to face the challenges of life.
